Re: WDMNT?
I'm also interested to see it, but like Sookie said, I hope they don't spend the whole movie saying how the entire military is trashy and awful. If they do, I think it'll just fuel the argument of women shouldn't be in the military in the first place. It seems like such an old argument, but K's mom still adamantly says that there is no place for women in the military and they shouldn't be allowed to join.
She will take one look at this preview and say "See? Women shouldn't be in the military. If they weren't in, they wouldn't have gotten raped." She'll excuse the men because of stress, PTSD, hardship, etc., and put all the blame on the women. She also says Muslims shouldn't be allowed to join, she's on of those.
I can also see it fueling the argument of why DADT should be put back in place. An argument like 'they can't keep women from being raped, so they obviously won't be able to keep homosexuals from raping straight guys'
On the other hand, I think it's an issue that needs to be talked about more. Hopefully it's done well and will lead to more discussion and action on the topic.
My father sent me the link. What a guy. There are all these comments about how it doesn't matter how you feel about the military, you should care about this issue. Eye roll.
The DOD knows this is a problem. It's, as always, up to leadership to create a culture where women are equals and comfortable with reporting crime.
