How have you been doing?  Are you completely moved and settled in your mom's place?

Re: *Lex*

  • It ate my first reply. :(

I'm completely moved and settled into my mom's place. I didn't see myself living with my parents at 23, but honestly there isn't anywhere better I could've gone during the whole ordeal. We've always been really close, and she's so great about everything, including all my pets. :)

At some point I'm going to look at getting a place down in the town I worked in, but B finally got around to telling me he wants to break the lease. He couldn't find roommates and his parents wouldn't cosign, so he's moving out today and we have to keep paying until there are new tenants. On the bright side my landlord is really working with me, so hopefully it won't be empty long and we'll get our deposit back and everything.

The whole situation sucked big time, but it's not like it came out of the blue.  The house is the last step, all of our other bills/insurance/etc has been split so I'm ready to move on and be done. I'm getting a membership at the rock gym up here, and have been swing dancing Mon&Weds nights. I'm keeping myself busy, and working on being happy.

Geez, sorry that got so long! How are you doing? I think I saw you get to go backpacking through Europe at some point??

  • I can't even imagine how stressful and upsetting this has been for you.  I'm glad to hear that you're all moved and your mom is so supportive, and that your landlord is willing to work with you.  I think you've handled this situation very well and with grace, and so much better than I would have.  I love how you're keeping yourself busy with activities and moving on.  Swing dancing sounds like a blast.  :)  I really admire you and wish you the best!

Not much has been going on here.  I'm bummed that I still haven't found a job.  It's ridiculous how many places I've applied.  Sometimes I think people don't believe me when I say I'm actively searching and applying, lol.  Other than that, things are going pretty well.  I've gotten to see some friends in my hometown a few times recently which was great because I was missing everyone.  DH works a lot of OT but that's pretty usual and we get to see each other late at night.

We've been talking about backpacking through Europe for a while now but never thought we'd get the chance due to busy work schedules.  My H has a ton of vacation time saved up (4+ weeks) but we didn't think his sergeant would let him take all of it at once.  Surprisingly, he did!  We worked around their schedule and we figured we better jump on the opportunity now while we can.  I guess that's one good thing about me not having a job yet, lol...plenty of free time on my end!  We're going this April and we're really excited.

    Edited to add more.

  • There are times where I have definitely NOT been graceful and dealt very well... Lol. But thanks!

That is SO exciting about your Europe trip! I wish you the best of luck on the job search, but that is the silver lining I guess of being unemployed! You better take a ton of pictures, and come back with all kinds of stories. I've always dreamed of doing something like that, I can't wait til I get the chance one day. Are there any specific things you plan to definitely see or places you want to go while you're there?

  • Lol.  I still think you've handled the situation really well.  It's awesome that you're getting out and doing things!  I really need to find some hobbies myself.  I've lived here over a year and still haven't met many people and I have WAY too much free time.

We're starting in Germany and making our way to Hungary.  We'll be visiting Munich and Berlin, Germany; Krakow, Poland; Prague and Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; Budapest, Hungary.  It's a LOT of places so I hope we're not trying to cram in too much.  I'm sure we are but we'll still have fun, lol.
