Lurker with a question...
I have a 9 year old and 10 1/2 month old twins - and both babies are completely mobile...I need to find a vacuum for quick clean ups on my carpet and laminate floors. I sweep multiple times a day. A friend of mine has the Dyson Digital Slim cordless vacuum and she loves it. I used it the other day at her house and I think I want one, but I have a hard time spending $300 on a vacuum - that's not even full size.
Do any of you have it - and if so, do you think it is worth it? Anybody know where to find a good deal on it?

Before I got to this post, I was going to reply, "Check out the Electrolux Ergorapido!" I bought the 9.6 v recently for our 900 sq ft fully-carpeted second home and am loving it. So... yes.... a few things:
1) For a cordless, spending $300 is ridiculous. At the end of the day, it's not like the charge is going to be all that much different, and a cordless comes down to how much time do you really need between charges to vacuum. If you can do the jobs you want in 20 minutes or less (which "everyday" clean ups should be, and my 900sq ft condo is easily done in that time) then the Electrolux absolutely meets the needs
2) the swivel/pivot head makes this stick vacuum much more versatile than other sticks (though potentially the dyson has this? Not sure). But ultimately, from my HUSBAND who has been using it, he thinks the swivel on the Ergorapido is fantastic and LOVES vacuuming to see where he can take it and get it. :-)
3)This was an upgrade from my previous 2-in-1cordless, but one of the things i liked about the Ergorapido is the attachments that work on the handheld for special jobs. It makes the handheld much more versatile and useful.
4) Con #1: You'll see this written in reviews. It doesn't stand up on its own. If you're taking a break between rooms or you're looking to stop vacuuming for a moment and move something, you have to lay it down or prop it up against something (more likely lay it down). It's fine and all, but, for me, I wasn't used to doing that, and it just takes a moment out of the routine if you find yourself there it can be slightly annoying
5) Con #2: Not a huge deal, but the light that comes from it when it is being charged is SO BRIGHT. We had the charging station in a guest room, and literally had to take out of there when we needed to charge it overnight while guests were here because it is way too bright to be around it. Not necessarily a problem all will face, if they have a laundry room or some other out-of-the-way place for it, it may not be an issue for you.
Hope this helps... Good luck!
