ANTS!

No matter what I do, I can't get rid of these sugar ants! We first found them in the sink. Then by the microwave. Once in the laundry room. And just tonight, the master bath sink!

We've sprayed indoors and outdoors, but we can't get rid of them.

Anyone have any solutions? Chemical or home remedies. We just need something.

Re: ANTS!

  • I've read that white vinegar works to keep ants away.

"Discourage ants by spraying undiluted white distilled vinegar outside doorways and windowsills, around appliances and wherever you find the pests coming in."

    Found on:

I tried it last summer and it seemed to work. Probably worth a shot!

  • sprinkle some diatomaceous earth where you find them.
    The pups!
  • I've heard ants won't cross a line of cinnamon, maybe try putting that out in the places they're crossing.

Also, borax is great for bugs since it's toxic to them but not harmful to us. Though I don't have kids or pets.

  • I used Borax when we had ants and I thought it worked well.  I also used little ground stakes with insect repellent (got them at Home Depot or something) because they are likely coming in from the outside.  We had an exterminator come to give us an estimate and one thing he said they did was put their chemical (mostly Borax) behind the switchplates so we did that too (just took off the front and put a little Borax in).  We have a cat and a child but took care not to leave it in a place either of them would easily access.  I focused mostly on windows and areas on external walls.  We also used ant traps.

  • Terro Liquid Ant.  Problem solved.
  • A small dish (I use a jar lid) with a mixture of baking soda and powdered sugar (equal parts each) usually does the trick for me.  They are enticed by the powdered sugar and killed by the baking soda.

This, definitely.  I tried everything else listed here and no success until Terro.  Within 4 days, no more ants.

  • Thank you all ladies!

I agree also. Nothing else worked for us but Terro.
