Hi all. We're thinking of heading down to Spain during DD's April school break. One of my cousins there sent me the height/age requirements for car seats for DD and told me to just explain to the car rental company what I needed. Um, I am not planning on renting a car while there since I hate driving and never drive at home. And we did not bring or buy a seat here since we're not using a car in Paris.
So, is there an easy way I can either rent just a car seat while I am in Spain (for use in my cousins' cars) or buy a not-so-expensive seat there? I tried doing a search on amazon.es, but got nowhere. In the meantime, I have sent emails to everyone I know in Spain to see if they know someone who knows someone who could lend me a seat.
Re: Car seat rentals or purchases in Spain?
I've been poking around on line and found a site selling a Graco "Silla de Auto grupo 2/3 Junior Maxi Saturn" for 49 Euros. I have no idea if this is a good deal or not (but it beats the heck out of paying for a hotel to stay in Metro-accessible Madrid just to avoid riding in cars in suburban Madrid). Anyone?
I think in April, we will be sticking to Madrid and the suburbs (my cousins there live in Alcorcon and Alpedrete) and maybe, depending on timing/train schedules/etc. either Seville or Leon. But over the course of the year, we'll be going back again since I have friends & family all over the country who want to meet DD, so I don't mind investing in a seat if that's the only option.
Oh, Okay!
I actually think that Madrid is one of the cheaper European cities. Of course, it is cheaper to stay with friends but I think you can find really good deals in the city.
I think it will be annoying to take the metro into the city every day.
I would love to just do my thing and stay in Madrid proper (where I also have friends to catch up with, albeit friends with teeny, tiny apartments and childless-couple-lifestyles), but I feel that a) my family will be offended I am not staying with them and b) they will want to invite me to their houses in the proverbial "middle of nowhere" for family dinners and such even if I am not staying with them. Which is all reasonable and understandable, hence my wanting to research the car seat thing.

I dont know if you want/need a new car seat but this is the webpage that sells products de segunda mano in Madrid.
gracias! I'll take a look at that.
