Where to buy good running shoes?
I'm slowly working my way back into running, but it's been like 10 years. I'm in need of a good pair of running shoes, so I'm looking for recommendations on where to go. I've been told to go to a good store and have them evaluate how I run, then ask for shoe recommendations. So does anyone have a place they like? I've been running on the treadmill in my old Nike Shox and ouch, can't put off buying new shoes any longer.
Also, I'm REALLY intrigued by the Vibram toe shoes, since I live in flip flops and really prefer to be barefoot. Has anyone tried these?

I was just coming back to update!
GREAT customer service at Gazelle, as soon as I walked in a girl came to help and watched me walk, run, etc. and then brought me a pile of shoes to try on while I ran on the treadmill in them. Ben was with us and was being his usual spazzy self and she was really good with him, gave him a soccer ball to kick around, let him walk on the treadmill. Super nice.
I ended up with a pair of Brooks, the most expensive shoes I tried on, of course. And truthfully they were twice what I wanted to spend on shoes. She DID offer to order my size in the next model down so it was cheaper but I didn't want to wait, and these ones felt perfect on my feet. I figure it's motivation not to let them collect dust, and keep at it!
