Where Would You Recommend

Hey ladies! The Husband and I recently made the decision to take one last trip together before we start trying to have children. We also decided that the trip will be in Spring or Summer of 2013, I know that is so far off but that gives us plenty of time to save and plan! Plus I am pretty excited!

These are the places we have been before: New Orleans, Cancun Mexico, Las Vegas

We would like to travel outside of the country but we don't have a huge amount  of money to spend. I would like to know what your suggestions are, maybe where you have been and loved!

Re: Where Would You Recommend

  • Need more info:

    More specific budget

Type of vacation you want: activity vs sitting on a beach

What you're into: outdoors, museums, history, food/drink

    Where you're flying from

How long you want to be gone

    Etc

This. If I had to plan one last trip before settling down and trying for kids, I would do one really huge trip and then keep doing little ones until I actually couldn't travel any more.

So a "big trip" for me would be a 2-3 week tour through Asia and the Pacific Rim.

In my experience, a "little trip" is anywhere within the US.

I swim because I'm too damned sexy for a sport that requires real clothing.
  • Agreed with pp. We definitely need more info of what you like to do. My husband and I are planning a "last trip" this summer before TTC and we're going to Italy and Germany!! Italy was my absolute number one place I want to see and Germany is his, so we decide to combine. We had a small honeymoon, so we're definitely splurging since we don't know when we'll be able to go again. It's going to cost us around $5000 for 12 days.

Do you  have any places that you are dying to see?

  • Ditto everyone else....DH and I had 3 things on our list before we TTC: France (I have been a million times, but it was really important for me to share that with him), Ireland (his family is from there and he has always dreamed of going there) and Disney World (I had never been and we wanted to experience it at least once without kiddos in tow).  Now that we are pregnant we don't feel like we missed out on anything because we checked everything off our list.....sure there are tons of other places we want to go, but these were our must-dos.

  • Hmm... without knowing what you mean by "don't have a huge amount of money to spend," I would suggest Jamaica, Dominican Republic, somewhere else in Mexico, Costa Rica.

If it were my trip, I'd make a tough decision between SE Asia, Nepal, Patagonia and Machu Picchu.  This is why we'll probably not end up having kids. ;-)
