I just read this blog post from one of the bloggers I follow. Summary:
"For the next 60 days, Molly and I will give up all traditional feminine Beauty Habits ? including wearing any makeup, removing any body hair, altering our hair from its natural state (dying, curling, straightening), wearing uncomfortable feminine clothing (high heels, tight skirts), wearing jewelry (with the exception of wedding bands), painting our nails, using anti-wrinkle or anti-acne lotions, wearing deodorant, or styling or cutting our hair for reasons other than function. We plan to blow dry our hair (because it?s the winter), brush our teeth, wear sunscreen, and dress appropriately ? but comfortably ? for the occasion."
What do you think? Good idea? Would you/do you skip those things?
Re: Naked Face
In the post, she talks about the Girls on the Run group she was coaching (9-10 year olds) and how she was telling them that women don't have to shave their legs. When they asked her why she shaved hers, she said because it's fun when you're older. But then she thought about it, and shaving your legs isn't fun.
Personally, I shave my legs because I sleep in shorts and I hate the feeling of my hairy legs. However, I'm sure I also shave my legs because of social pressures. Still, I don't think something not being fun is a good reason to not do it. Brushing your teeth and flossing isn't fun, either, but you still do it.
The thing that is freaking me out the most is the lack of deodorant. The other stuff I can understand - I don't care if you don't shave your legs. 2 of my college roommates no longer shave their legs. That doesn't bother me. However, no deodorant? Yuck. Please don't sit near me.
True story: I don't wear deodorant. I clean and spritz with a little alcohol water mixture and I'm good to go. I've asked my friends and Jake to tell me if I ever stink and no one has ever complained. Deodorant is some pretty nasty stuff when you read up on it.
This challenge would be easy for me.

I would not feel comfortable leaving the house without deoderant or shaving my pits. Everything else, I pretty much already do except I do shave my legs once a week.
Wow, that's amazing. I'm jealous! I put on deodorant in the morning, and then re-apply before working out, before going out at night after work, and sometimes even mid-day. I feel like it just wears off very quickly for me! (and I could never go without. I'd smell so bad!)
Here's an explanation on the rubbing alcohol/water deodorant
I acutally find that I sweat less and I'm less stinky since starting this. There are days I go without the spray and I still feel fine.

You're not the only one
I hardly ever fix my hair for work but I would have a verrrry difficult time with no shaving (obviously), deodorant, and makeup. I don't wear full face makeup with my eyes done every day but I always have some type of foundation and concealer on. My skin is pretty uneven and it's not a good look when I go bare faced. I think I could get down if I had good skin though. Anything in order to sleep longer.
