Here's the dilemma, the event is a church wedding followed by a reception that states cocktail attire in Alaska in two weeks.
Cocktail attire and Alaska in dead of winter does not compute to me.
WWSND?
yes, alaska, winter, cocktail attire----not sure all of those belong in the same sentence. do you have some cute, tall, stiletto boots? .......i still can't picture it..it'd be way too cold to wear a dress. and tights do not equal cocktail attire........ i guess you could do peep toe..since the reception is inside----? i'm still cold just thinking about it.

I love me some peep toes, and in general, closed toe shoes don't fit me well. I'm actually wearing them right now
.
If I need to walk outside for extended periods, I just bring a change of shoes.
I think peep toes are the perfect winter cocktail shoe.
Here's how I'd style a cocktail dress for a winter wedding:
Thanks ladies! And yes, A majority of the time is indoors, its more the logistics of too and from cars and buildings. And the fact that it's been below zero for over 2 weeks.
Emyinpink - that's exactly the look I was going for. This is the dress I'm working with. I have a pair of closed toe heels, but they seem to sleek.
I've been thinking about this pair of peep toe Cole Haans since last weekend, off to see if they still have them!

Wedding is in Eagle River, reception is in Anchorage. Not sure if they're using a planner or not, everything came together so quickly, they just got engaged in September.
This, even for cocktail attire.
And, I wouldn't do black tights and black shoes. I only like peeps and tights when the colors aren't monocromatic. Like this:
I went with these shoes.
I generally don't do tights or panty hose due to my foot tattoo, it looks dumb.
I grabbed this scarf/shawl as well, since it was suggested I might want to cover my shoulders in the church.
