What do I need to do?

I have been getting phone calls from a fin. company for a person we will call "Frank". I have not been home when these phone calls come in so the answering machine gets it. They say that "Frank" needs to pay XXXX by the 31st on account XYZ. They left their name and number, so I tried to call them back and it just rings and rings and rings.

Today as I get home there is a letter on my door. That once again has "Frank's" name what he owes and to whom and when.  Once again I call and it just rings and rings.

Now this person does not live here, I do not know him, and the only people to live in this house were the owners and my family.

This place is just in the next town and I do have to go there tomorrow for phyiscal therapy, should I just show up, give them back their letter along with the a highlighted page of the FDCPA of which laws they have broken? Or should I just keep trying to call?

Re: What do I need to do?

  • Sounds sketchy to me... if someone wanted their money that bad, they would answer the phone. I wouldn't go by yourself.

    Photo bomb, yeah!
  • I was getting phone calls like that at very inconvenient times (5-6am) and it was highly irritating. I told them it was the wrong number numerous times but they continued to call. I finally told them if they continued to call, I would send a cease and desist letter to them, contact the States Attorney General and report their company to the FTC.

They never called me again. Good Luck!

  • I used to get phone calls like that which did not end until I finally answered one day and gave some lady an angry earful. How is it that they have both your phone number and your physical address? I thought that phone numbers were recycled in such a way that the same house would not match up with the same number twice in a row. Maybe I'm wrong?

Something smells fishy. I would probably start with the police and see how they suggest to proceed. Sorry you're dealing with this.

This is the big question, my house does not have a phyiscal address, nor do we have a 911 address, nor do I have mail delivered here, I have a post office box. The letter that I got was shoved in my door, so this means that someone had to physically drive out here and put it there.

I did call the police and they told me that I would need to contact them either by going to their place of business are getting ahold of them on the phone. So tomorrow I am going to be taking my friend with me (and she is a whole lotta friend that can get it with the best of them) and going to the address on the paper. Lets see what they say!
