Pacifier?

Hello ladies, Im trying to get info for my sister. My niece is 2 years old and she is at Day 4 without her nam nam (pacifier). She is doing well but having a hard time napping, any suggestions? I asked her if she's looking for it and she said once, and she said they forgot it at the beach hehehe (they live in Miami). I feel bad because I know how much her nam nam soothes her but she is becoming a big girl heheheh.

Re: Pacifier?

  • My daughter actually picked up the habit at 18 months and only uses it at nap time and night time.  So, I am hoping it will be easy to break since she isn't THAT attached to it.  But I have read that bringing a younger "baby" into the room and explaining that pacis belong to babies and not big girls.  It's easy enough to SAY it belongs to babies and not big girls, but to actually show her who it belongs to might help.  That is a very tricky stage and is hard to break.  My little sister was obsessed with her paci when we were growing up.
  • **Not just bringing in a baby, but actually giving the baby a pacifier.  Should have proofread!
  • I think she's doing ok with not having it, but the napping time is whats becoming difficult.

  • I waited way too long before the Binky Fairy finally came, and I have to say it was so much easier than I expected. If she's doing well without it, I say go with it. Just remind her that it's gone if she asks, and tell her they went to the new babies if she needs more explanation. Sometime when Lily was two, naps started to be more hit and miss, some days yes, some days not. Might've been later in the year though. Amazing how fast we forget the details.

  • We waited way too long and took Paiges "bodgie" away at almost 3.  We said we dropped it in the store and kept to the story.  After a few days all was well, but she has rarely napped since that day so it might just be timing and naps are going away too.
