Better to move during PCS season?

I am a DA Civilian - SO and I are going to be moving closer to our installation. Our lease is up at the end of March and we haven't seen a lot of rentals we like.

Is there a better likelihood or finding something we like during PCS season? I have only moved once during that time frame, but I was also in a VERY military area and moved during that timeframe.

I don't know. I would think it could go either way. There may be more available, but then again you may have to jump quickly when you see something you like. People are PCSing away from that base, but someone else is coming in to replace them. In this town, it's easier to find something from late fall to mid spring.

People generally give landlords notice when they get their assignment RIP, so late winter/early spring is when I'd expect rentals to start showing up on AHRN. You might also keep an eye out for increased yard sales, as that starts to happen when assignment RIPs drop. [ETA for clarity: Not that you'll be going to yard sales, but you can expect the housing listings to catch up soon when you see lots of yard sales.)

Summer is always the best time, since so many people are moving at that time. Both realtors and the moving company have mentioned that to me in the past.
