on average, how much TV do you watch?

Granted the SAG awards were on last night, but I think I was sitting watching TV for at least 6 hours yesterday. Buh....I feel like a lazy sack. How much TV do you typically watch at night?

I have realized that most of my favorite shows aren't even on right now. I'm sure my TV watching time will increase once The Walking Dead and True Blood come back on. Lately I am spending way too much time watching junky TV.

BESIDES watching television or surfing the web, what are some other activities that you do at home after work?

When I'm at work the tv is on. When I'm at home the tv is on. I'm usually doing other things but I watch A LOT of tv and I make no apologies for it. I love tv.

This-ity this this (well, I don't have a TV at work, but if I did, it would be on).

  • I like to multitask, I watch TV, surf the internets and drink all at once.  sometimes I even cook or on bad days iron.  yeah that's pretty much all I do.

  • I watch maybe 3-5 hours a week? Definitely not much, and it can vary based on what Thunder/Braves/OU Football games are on.

I don't really have any shows I watch with regularity. I'm trying to catch up on Downton, but that's been a losing battle.

I'm feeling very bitter and jealous of people who can sit on their ass at home and watch TV for long stretches.

  • We don't have cable and the few stations we have don't come in very well or very often. Now Instant Netflix is another story. I watch a lot of that. To be fair it's usually background noise while I'm job hunting, but still.
  • We don't have cable, and I'm still mad at network tv for canceling everything I like 2 seconds after it starts (or dragging it out until it's stupid... LOST). So, 2-3x a week we'll watch a couple of episodes of something on Netflix. We've slowly been working our way through Supernatural and waiting for Dr Who to come back.

  • I would say that on average I watch about 3/4 of the TV, but sometimes I'm feeling saucy and sit right in front of it, and then it's probably only 2/3.

  • My first thought was "too much" but I count any movies/shows we watch via Netflix or Redbox as TV watching and that adds up.

  • Experimenting now....no tv tonight. I gotta say it feels weird for the apartment to be so quiet. But it's kinda nice. I'm missing It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia though....so maybe I will turn it on. LOL! ***, I can't even go one night!!!

  • There's no prize for never watching TV.

  • The prize is smugness, Moo.

  • Or in my case, a lack of rage.

  • Don't be smug about your lack of rage.

  • no prize?! awww no fun!

on a side note, part of the massive amount of TV I watched over the weekend was Braveheart. God, I love that movie. I don't care that Mel Gibson is a turd, that is a great movie!

I honestly can't imagine how one lives without tv and cable. I wouldn't be able to go on the treadmill without it. It's also just what we do. We put E to bed and watch tv together. That's our wind-down time. It's not like we don't talk either- we talk too much. I'm watching tv now and will until I fall asleep. This is the hour I usually watch Stern OnDemand.

Sometimes we randomly/spontaneously break into Seinfeld trivia. I use tv pop culture to randomly chat people up. When we had no power I didn't feel a sense of peace getting a break from tv- talk about rage. I was unable to dvr. That's rage.

  • a lot. a lot.

my only other comment is that mouse should start watching alcatraz if she misses lost so much.

  • My husband loves Braveheart.  LOVES.  I've tried to watch it numerous times with him and I always end up falling asleep.

I don't watch nearly as much tv as I used to.  I'm just not into that many shows anymore.  It's pretty much just Gossip Girl (I know), Project Runway, and Glee.  I've been watching the New Girl and I do like it.

I was home sick a couple of days last week and I just watched Netflix all day long.  I do that sometimes when I'm working on something - sewing or cleaning or whatever.

  • We watch a lot of PBS Kids:  Sesame Street, Cat in the Hat, Curious George, Peep and the Big World.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

On the weekends, we mainly watch sports.  I DVR Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy, Chopped, Iron Chef America, and Hoarders.

  • OMG I LOOOOOVE CHOPPED!!! DH and I watch it whenever it's on. I'm quite good at predicting different creative ways to use the secret ingredients. It would be awesome to go on there and compete one day. There have certainly been chefs on that show who were not as creative as I could have been. Big Smile

(Not to toot my own horn or anything! lol!)

  • If I'm on, my TV is on.  The rare exception is weekends when my H wants to turn it off to read, which works till I get twitchy.  I do everything with the TV on.  Write, cook, read.  And I can always tell you what happened in the book and on the TV.
