Earthquake!!
Last night there was a small earthquake just south of us. I didn't feel it but many did. I am seriously freaked out that a bigger one could happen and I have no idea what to do if I really am in the middle of one! I feel like I need to get a hard hat and hold on tight.
Has anyone expeirenced an earthquake?

I've experienced several.
In CA, they're kind of expected, and they're a gentler rolling feeling.
The one we had in August in VA was scary because it was really violent and shaky. Also, buildings here aren't built to the stronger earthquake code, so it caused a lot of damage. The cell towers were also down for like 2 hours, which was unsafe bc I only have a mobile phone and no one could get in touch.
Stand up for something you believe in.
We felt the same one up here. Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with one stronger.

I lived in So.Cal for few years and lived through several earthquakes of varying magnitudes. They're can certainly be alarming when you aren't expecting them. Ready.gov has some helpful tips for preparing for an earthquake, as well as what to do during and after one.

Also, most don't last longer than 30secs (which I know seems like an eternity when its actually happening) and even the 1906 SF quake was only 60secs, so if you need a distraction or something to focus on that might be something to keep in mind.
I didn't feel it either but my parents (who have obviously been in for a little while) are super nervous that they're going to go back to the house in Lake Geneva and that everything is going to be in shambles!
Luckily, I've been far enough away from all of the quakes that have happened in the midwest to not ever feel them; I'd probably freak out and think I was going to get swallowed up the earth.
I grew up in SoCal and we've been through several. The biggest one I remember was the Northridge quake in 1994. It was really, really damaging and I remember there were aftershocks all day, I camped out in one of our doorways with some books and a blanket and refused to move.
Instead of tornado or other disaster drills, we had earthquake drills where we had to crawl under our desks at school and cover our heads, then evacuate the building. One year we had a huge earthquake drill and I got to be a victim and hide in the computer lab until some teachers found me and carried me outside to be triaged. It was a big deal.
I'm way more scared of tornadoes than earthquakes.
