I'm TRYING to send in a bill to my health insurance, I actually have a policy that only allows me to send them in digitally through their website. It takes forever and a day to upload even 1 bill, and it's not like it's a large file or anything.
Lately I've noticed more and more that a lot of companies that require you to use their websites, have really crappy and non-functioning websites.
Do they do that to screw with me, or are there really just 50-somethings working there who know nothing about technology, but decided it would be cool to have a website???

Re: why do companies have such crappy websites?
This. you'd be amazed at how many companies just have a website just to HAVE one, and have no idea about functionality and how things should work for the ease of the user. It hurts my brain when I browse the internet sometimes!

Well, my boss (60+) runs around saying he wants this-and-that with our website as well, so it's what I figured. However, I see it as my job to tell him 'no, we're not doing that' despite the fact that he's the boss. It just surprises me that within larger (and smaller) companies, apparently a lot of 'bosses' don't have employees willing to say 'dude, you don't know shiit'.
I'll explain to my boss that some things work, others don't and I often use 'I can explain to you why, but I'll use highly technical terms, so I don't know if you'll get it'. He usually has me start explaining, but in the end just tells me 'make it functional and pretty, please. If it can do xyz, you can decide and figure out whatever else there is to do or decide, you apparently know what you're doing'.
Hehe, I like my boss, he's so cute when he tries to be internet-savvy!
