*~Ang~* (Vegas ?'s)

If you're around today, could you give me some of your top picks for Vegas?  I know you did a thread recently, but I think people asked more about cruises than Vegas.

I'm going in April with 2 of my best girlfriends to celebrate finishing our MBA's.  Price isn't really an issue, and I think it is the first time for all three of us.

Any recommendations on where to stay?

Favorite restaurants?  (food is high on our priority list...lol)

Where to drink?  (lounges/bars, we're not really club people)

Have you seen any good shows?

Input from anyone else is welcome too!  Thanks!!

It depends - it is your first time? If so, I would stay mid-strip so that you can walk around and check everything out.  Cab rides are only like $10 from end to end, so that is really NBD.  We love the Wynn and Encore.  Total pampering, beautiful rooms, great restaurants, like 1 kid for every 10,000 grown ups, great service, awesome pool scene, non-smokey casino.

We have also stayed at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay and had a suite that was very nice.  It is all the way at one end of the strip though.  Plus, that time of year might be nuts in the pool area.

The Cosmopolitan is also awesome.  No casino though, but great location.

Favorite restaurants?  (food is high on our priority list...lol) OMG, I could write for days about this!  Bartolotta (Wynn) was our fav so far.  They have outside seating and it is 5 star all the way.  Botero and Sinatra were also magical.  As you can see, we don't venture out too much anymore!

Mix and Fleur (MB) were also amazing.   The Eiffel Tower restaurant is uber romantic.

For more casual, check out the Burger Bar.  Yes, a burger will set you back $30, but it is so worth it!  There is a mexican restaurant in the Palms that is great for after drinking all night.  Also, there is a sports bar open 24/7 in the Rio for after drinking.  ***'s Last Resort in the Excaliber is an experience.  NYNY also has some cute deli places and I believe a fun Irish Bar.  Olives in the Bellagio is great - pizzas, etc. and a view of the fountain show.

Where to drink?  (lounges/bars, we're not really club people) The Playboy Club (chicks usually get in free), Ghost Bar, Voodoo Lounge (our fav), House of Blues (dependent on the band), XS, Encore Beach Club (daytime).  We usually just stick around the Wynn bars for the most part.

Have you seen any good shows? Any Cirque shows - O, Mystere, Le Reve, Zumanity.  Peep Show with Holly Madison was good, but a bunch of chicks might not think so.

Input from anyone else is welcome too!  Thanks!!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

  • Ooh, you're going to have a blast!

We also saw Mystere and enjoyed it. Next time I want to see Love, which is also a Cirque show with Beatles music.

    Me too!

  • I really liked Zumanity!  We're going to see Love the next time we're in town too.

Ang gave you some great ideas.  I LOVED The Cosmopolitan and plan to stay there next time.  Last time we stayed at Tropicana, which is on the south end of the strip...was very surprised with how nice it was.  There's a breezeway that goes over the pools and I swear, for a second, I thought I was back at Sandals in Jamaica.  It was fab, but I recommend staying mid-strip your first time.

We ate at a really, really good restaurant at the Venetian - I'll dig up the name of it.  Also, I usually HATE buffets, but the one at the Wynn was really, really good.

    I'm off to a meeting, but I'll update when I get back...we go to Vegas 2-3 times/year.  :)

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Weird, weird stuff.  If we do NYC, it'll prob be the weekend you're in Vegas through 4/18 or 19.  We were talking about making NYC wait though until summer (my BFF is going to India for all of July, so we have a free, huge place to stay in Astoria)...if we do that, we'll be in Vegas the same weekend in April as you.  Smile

We're planning to fly out Thurs night 4/12 and be back really late Sunday night, so either of those possibilities works for me!!  Keep me posted!  :)
