No longer listed but have a showing tomorrow

We were listed for 18 months and just pulled our house off the market in October. My realtor e-mailed me and said he just got a call from a realtor who has clients that want to see our house even though it's no longer listed. We said of course, because we still want to sell it, but I was just curious if this was normal?

I have no clue how they even knew we were listed -- unless maybe they saw the listing before we took it down & just weren't ready to buy yet?

Did this happen to anyone else?

Wish us luck!!!

Re: No longer listed but have a showing tomorrow

  • We are under contract on a house that was no longer listed! We had gone to see it about a year and a half ago (2009) when it was on the market and we were thinking about buying, but ultimately we decided that it wasn't the right time for us.

When we got serious about buying, and started our search again a couple months ago, I remembered the house cause it was beautiful and in our perfect neighborhood. I checked online just to see if it was still listed by any chance. On Zillow you can see the property information like when it was listed, price changes, sold etc. I noticed it wasn't sold, just that the listing had been removed. It had been off the market  for a whole year, but I asked our realtor and she got in touch with their realtor, and luckily for us they were still willing to sell!

We close on that house in March :)

  • It's quite possible that whatever website they're doing their research on hasn't been updated yet.  Or perhaps they say that it had recently been pulled but not sold, and figured you may still be interested.  There really are so many ways of getting information now that they could have come across your listing multiple ways.

  • Both Zillow and Trulia are slow to update sometimes. I've seen some houses that we're pulled off the market a week or so prior. This post makes me wonder if we should have pursued them further.
  • Did you have an open house that they might have attended back when it was on the market?

Maybe they really liked it but weren't in a position to buy until now.
