My boss and I are taking over a project at work starting immediately. It's a completely convoluted, overly intricate series of reporting that everyone swears they need, but no one actually takes the time to read. I'm less than thrilled.
As I've said in the past, I'm pretty bored at my job, so a new project is great! I'm just wary about this particular project because it has a history of spinning out of control quickly. There are too many people with there fingers and opinions in the project, no one can ever agree on how they want the data presented, and I have a feeling I'm going to be reinventing the same reports in different formats every.single.week.
My boss is already going OCD on me and has been talking my ear off all morning about ideas and emails and formats. We don't even know where the data is kept yet or how to access it.
We'll see what happens. I'm hoping I can wrap my head around it quickly and I can manage the reporting in a way that will either make everyone happy (yeah, right) or is so easily changeable that it'll take me no time at all to put the data into multiple presentations. If not, however, my activity on TN may become spotty at best.
I'll be here today, though! Let's make it a fun day!
Re: Well, that's really going to cut into my sitting around time (Vent)
My advice: one data tab, multiple linked report tabs in Excel.
I'm sure you'll figure it out and keep everyone happy. We cannot have this project cutting into your time on TN!
This is great advice! Good luck and I hope it is more exciting than what you are currently doing.
Oh, trust me, I'm already writing macros and developing pivot tables in my head.
