Is what I am currently working as of today. Now this would be the best thing ever if it wasn't because we were laid off! So we were told today that 5 of us could go home and now we can rotate days off until they make a decision about when we can stop coming in. So I have this afternoon off and Thursday off and then everyone works for 4 hours Friday to make it fair. But for the past 2 weeks we have gone to work and literally have not had any work!
Anyway, I had applied within for another job, and I am 99% sure I got it, but I have now decided that I am sure I won't ever have another chance where I get paid to leave a company, so I am going to tell them that I will take my package. I am going to try to get a job at a doctor's office where my mom works, and then go to school next January! Her office has a few openings so my chance of getting one is very good.

Re: Rotating days off
That sounds like a good plan to me. If I got laid off from one department, I wouldn't be too excited to take a job elsewhere in the same company either. Take the money and run!
What will you be studying when you when you go back to school?
Yes! Especially since MH works there too, if they do it again, we'd be screwed.
I am just going to take a Unit Clerk course so I could work at the Hospital. If I get a job at the Dr's office, then I can do that part time while go to school. Plus if H and I ever have to move some where, then I can get a job in the city where we move. Since I am a university drop out now, I feel like I have to have some thing I can rely on.
Sounds like a good idea! I've got a cw going through the same things right now. She has about four more weeks until she doesn't come in anymore and gets her severance, and she's waiting patiently. She does run to the back to take calls on her cell every once in awhile, though. Everyone knows why, but no one cares.
GL! I hope you get the job at the doc's office!
FI and I both got laid off 3 weeks ago from the same company. Fortunately, we had the foresight to apply for jobs elsewhere. I got the call for my first interview literally an hour after I got laid off. Perfect timing! I was only without a job for 7.5 days and still got the severance package!
I hope everything works out for you!
