My FI's brother recently got married and is now expecting a baby. The news of the baby led to a miscommunication between the expectant mother and soon-to-be-grandmother.
I want the expectant mother to know that we are happy for her so I was hoping to buy her a small gift (under 50 dollars) to show the excitement we have toward becoming Aunt/Uncle.
Since I have never been pregnant and would like to avoid just getting baby clothes I was wondering if someone could give me suggestions of what they found helpful when they were expecting.
Re: Family/baby issues...
Perhaps she's the grandmother AND the aunt. Like an Uncledaddy.

Maybe that's why she feels she needs to buy the gift.
The best gift for a pregnant woman (if you want something for her and not the baby) will probably be some way to pamper herself like a massage gift certificate or a pedicure or something like that.
I agree with Buddha, I like to throw a pedi g/c in with baby gifts.
For less then ten cents a day, you can feed a hungry child.
gift certificate for a maternity store, those clothes are expensive.
I am the Aunt. The grandmother and the prospective mother got into a fight and I think it made the mother feel like the baby wasn't welcome in the family and I am hoping to rectify the situation.
Thanks for the spa suggestions I will see if I can get her one in her area.
try spafinder.com. Or get one from there in the drugstore. Then she can go anywhere she wants (that accept spafinder gc's)
