Suit separates

I'm going into a more conservative field and have been thinking I need to get some more professional clothes. I have very narrow shoulders and tried a ton of blazers (even in juniors) before finding one that fits and I liked the style. It didn't have matching pants, but its black so it does go with black slacks I already own. Of course the fabric and color are a little different. Do you think that matters too much? I can't afford to buy a suit and get it tailered.

Re: Suit separates

  • With a black blazer, or any color for that matter, you can always pair it with professional looking pants of another color - like grey or tan/camel.

Also, you might want to check out a second-hand shop since cost is a concern. Like Plato's Closet. Lots of times they have trendy, cute stuff that is in great condition for A LOT less than retail. They sometimes even have designer names.

Also, a word to the wise, don't skimp on shoes. If you buy a cheapo pair that kill your feet, you'll be kicking yourself. Spend some extra money on them.

  • Zara has nice jackets that have narrow shoulders.
