Would it bother you

Would it bother you if your MIL joined a mom's group to take your LO to?  Assume your MIL generally has major boundary issues and is way, way too involved in your life.

Re: Would it bother you

  • Yes.  Particularly if MIL is the daycare provider, too.  Sounds like you need to establish a few boundaries.

  • Agree.  Thanks for your feedback.  She is not our main daycare provider, but she does watch him on Fridays.  I just wasn't sure if it bothers me because I don't like her, or if it really was crossing a line.  You know how once you don't like someone, every little thing they do bothers you.  Oh, and she never mentioned it to me.  She has a very unique name and I found her profile on a mom's group I was looking to join.

  • Yep, I'd stop that asap, unless it was a grandma's group.

ETA:  I have the same feelings about my xMIL.

  • Nope, a working mom's group.

  • Wowzers!  That's super weird.  I would also have a problem with it.  And especially because she never told you!

  • It is so weird.  Well, at least H is on the same page as me.  I C&P'ed the profile I found to him and he wrote back: Oh shitt, that is definitely my Mom.  That's fuuucked up. (edited to get around nest censors)  Ugh.

  • Yeah, I would have a problem with that.  I would speak with your H and get that ended ASAP.
  • IDK, I guess I am the lone man out, I don't see what the big deal is.  I guess if she wanted to get out, let your LO get some kid interaction and if it's in a safe environment I don't think it would bother me.  Although it might bother some of the other moms having to chit chat with someone who is twice their age, LOL.

However, I do think it's super weird that she did this without your knowledge.  I mean, why be so shady?

I kinda agree with this.  She is resourceful. LOL.

I agree with Kathy. I don't see it as a big deal. I'm guessing a Grandma group is hard to find?
