if your kid is potty trained...
so,we've been working on potty training since the new year. for a while she would go once a day (usually first thing in the morning.) then it stopped. then for the past 3 days we've done pullups and/or training pants and it appears to be working! (amen!) the first day she had 3 accidents but went on the potty 9 times. at first it wasnt her idea to go, more so me making her- but by the second day she was going on her own. last night i went to put a diaper on her at bed and she was pissed! so we've been doing pullups with no accidents. although she prefers the training pants, she seems to be really motivated to have "big girl underwear." thing is, we have mostly been home over the past 2 days. today we went to the library and i was worried she would have to go and i thought, what if?
so, my question to you- i know we have talked about this before, but what did/do you do with your kids while potty training and using public restrooms. (it's worth mentioning that right now she is using the sort of potty that sits on the ground. she really isnt interested in the dora ring we have for the grown up toilet.) my friend suggested buying this thing for the trunk of my car http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3132746- but i cant see us dragging that into the library/ restaurant/ most places. any advice is appreciated!

My dd wasn't interested in the potty on the ground, but liked using the potty seat on the toilet. I think it was from watching bigger kids at daycare use the big potty. So I got the portable folding one for when we were out in public.

I also had her in pullups when we went out just in case we couldn't find a toilet quick enough.
we only used a real toilet for the potty - with a ring at home and at my parents' and in-laws' (everyone had their own). when we were out in public, i'd heavily line the seat with paper, and hold her while she sat. she would hold on to us too.
at school, they only have toilets in bathrooms, so we kept that consistent - even though those toilets are super small and close to the ground.

I still had to kinda hold on to her so she wouldn't fall in but they kept her tush off of a public toilet. Now, I carry antibacterial wipes and give the seat a once (or twice) over before she uses a public toilet. She likes her privacy so I don't stay in the stall anymore but I go in, wipe the seat, make sure there's toilet paper. If it's one of those toilets with the automatic flush things I stick a post-it note over the sensor so it doesn't flush when she's on it because that's gross too and it scares her.
I haven't been on much and am a bit late on this, but for the public we use two things (bc I'm a bit neurotic when it comes to public restrooms).

I try to make DS stand whenever possible so that he doesn't have to actually sit, but he seems to be in a mood lately where he doesn't want to stand to pee anymore.
I also never used the separate potty when training A. We used the baby bjorn seat (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267518) and I have a hook that goes on the tank of our toilet so that it just hangs on the side out of the way of things (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4020541). We also have the potette one for long trips in the car.
It sounds like you're almost there! Keep it up!!! The hardest part for me was letting go and having A in his big boy undies all the time. I was so worried of accidents. But one day I just let go of my fears and he was fine. If you're home I would let her be in her undies. Messes are much easier to clean up at home then they are out.
I would also keep a bag of extra clothes and some plastic bags in your car at all times (just leave it in the trunk) just in case you have accidents out. I always have some in our cars.
