We have a chalkboard right inside our main office door, and the receptionist and I take turns updating it with inspiring and motivational quotes. Most of the time, we use them as subtle messages to people within the office that we want to stop complaining, gossiping, or being negative, but I'm sure it goes right over their heads :-p Anyway, what's your favorite quote that you would put up on this message board? Here's some I've liked:
- Listen thrice, think twice, speak once.
- Those who complain the most achieve the least.
- The harder you work, the luckier you become.
- At first glance, it might appear too hard. Look again. Always look again.
- It's a good day to have a good day!
- When you throw dirt, you lose ground.
Also, I have this little saying taped up at my desk: Today I will be happier than a bird with a French fry!
It reminds me to stay positive whenever I can :-) I must say, Pinterest has been a great source of uplifting quotes.
Re: Favorite quotes?
"I don't have pet peeves - I have major psychotic f*cking hatreds." -George Carlin
"Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour." -Peter in Office Space
None of my favorite quotes are particularly motivational or work appropriate, lol.
I do quote movies quite a bit.
its a little passive agressive to put quotes up as "subtle reminders/suggestions"
My boss has one on her desk I like "Let your work be your signature"
Oh, I know. But the alternative is to blow my lid at a few people in this office for the amount of negativity they spew, and what would come out would be highly unprofessional.
At least this way, I can feel like I'm sending out little positive sparkles into the universe, and if those negative people happen to see it and take note, then everyone might be a little happier :-)
