Dining recs in CR
I know there has been some posts about Cedar Rapids lately. We will be in CR in a couple of weeks and my sister and her family are going to watch the kids. I am looking for restaurant recs. We were there a year ago and the place we went was so-so. The bar part was cool but our food was nothing exciting. We are hoping to do better this time. We would prefer local. TIA!

DH & I are generally go for the bar & grill type restaurants or ethnic food so here are some that I we enjoy...
Vito's on 42nd - also has great daily food and drink specials during the week- website has all the details. The spinach/artichoke appetizer is amazing and it is only $5 during happy hour....
Irish Democrat- fun environment, neat bar, good food
Zeppelin's- Owned by some of the people that were a part of Irish Democrat. good food, fun environment
For margaritas and yummy mexican after work we would go to Casa Las Glorias on Blairs Ferry.
For amazing Indian food we like Taste of India on Boyson. This is one of our favorite Indian restaurants we have ever been to!
Zins in downtown CR also gets rave reviews but in the 4 years we lived in the Iowa City/ CR area we never made it there!
Our favorite restaurant in the area is actually in North Liberty if you are up for a drive down 380. It is Red's Alehouse. The food is amazing. The craft (or as I call it "fancy") beer selection on tap is awesome and all drinks are 2 for the price of 1 from 3-6 every day.
Wow. Looking above we must sound like alcoholics but I promise we really just enjoy good food and a drink while out and about and don't actually have drinking problems... Have fun in CR!
