tips for negotiating a separation?
i'm almost ready to cross that bridge and am looking for tips to make a separation go as smoothly as possible. I have no idea what to expect. I think we both agree things aren't working right now. He makes a lot more money than me and we have 2 little kids that I will likely end up with most of the time, and i'm a little worried about the division of finances.
Do you guys have tips of things to do or NOT do to help this process?
Re: tips for negotiating a separation?
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
THIS THIS THIS! My EXH and I are both lawyers and we still used attorneys. Its just easier to not have any contact even if you think it will be amicable.
Haha we are too! Unfortunately for my XH, he didn't realize that separation agreements and divorce decree negotiations couldn't be handled like an 11th hour corporate transaction. Ugh, 4 lawyers was frustrating!
Tell me about it. Good thing my EXH's lawyer was also his dad's divorce lawyer a whooping 5 times (yes his dad is on his 5th marriage) and had lots of experience. HA!
