Vaca ideas with 6/7/8 month old...

Hello all! DH and I are looking to go on week long vacation with our little girl. She's 5 months old but we're looking to go in March, April or May (so she'll be between 6-8 months). We are thinking Texas (have always wanted to go), Florida (not Disney, but maybe Sanibel Island), Hilton Head, SC, or Seattle... Any additional ideas for us?

  • Some questions:

    Budget?

    Fly or drive?

    Where are you leaving from?

How good a traveler is your DD? We did a weeklong road trip when our DD was 4 months and she did great, so we were pretty much open to taking her anywhere after that.

If you've already wanted to go to TX, what parts do you want to see? Dallas is different from Austin which is different from Padre Island.

  • Suggestion: i would try and go before she starts crawling. once they start crawling i think it can be a bit more difficult. I went on a cross country trip when my dc was 7 months old. As soon as we got home he started crawling & he was on the move. But at that age, he was really easy to put in my backpack and bjorn. Don't know if he would have liked to be as confined if he was crawling at the time.

REally though at that age you can take them anywhere. we went to savannah ga when dc was about 5 months and had a great time. Marco island is another idea for you too.

    have fun!

  • No real budget... Flying out of Boston... She is great in the carseat and in general a good baby - that said we've not traveled outside the state with her yet, so I'm not sure if she's a good traveler. :-) We've never been to Texas so we're really open to anything... One priority is an indoor/outdoor pool at the hotel. I know that doesn't narrow it down much though. We are big country music fans; does that help? :-/ Thanks for the help!! Appreciate it!

Nashville? We went in April-ish two years ago, and it was nice. It was light jacket kind of weather if I remember correctly. And the grand ole opry hotel has 3 pools :) and it's huge with tons of different resturants and things to do just at the hotel. We're from Boston and we flew to Seattle a few years ago in June, and it was really rainy and cold- we only went for 2 days before driving down the coast. I can't imagine what I would if we went for longer just in Seattle. I've never been to Texas so I can't say, but I vote for Nashville :)
