Hi Ladies! I didn't say goodbye, but I'm back from my NY and DC trip. It was the best. My first impression was, "this is San Fran on steroids." I had a great time. We did all the touristy things and lots and lots of walking. Thanks for all the recs before I left. The Michael Jordan Steakhouse was great. I also stumbled upon a few other great restaurants that weren't as pricey.
I'll be catching up on all the posts today.
Re: NY was ah-mazing!
We went to DC our first day and hit up a few museums, Washington Monument, White House, Capital, Lincoln Memorial, WW1 and 11 memorials. The reflection pool is under construction
In NY we did the double decker bus tour, uptown, downtown and night/Brooklyn tour. We walked Central Park, went to Top of the Rock, Empire State Builiding, 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, saw Memphis on Broadway, ate hole in the wall pizza, rode the subway, went to Natural History Museum and The Met, boat tour to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. We also did some shopping on 5th Ave and lots and lots of walking. We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge to have pizza at Grimaldi's Pizza. It was delish!
We had dinner at Grand Central Station, West End Bar and Grill (best salmon ever) and Tonys diNapoli. DH had recommended Tonys to me, and it was sooo good and priced great. It's all family style so we had a lot of left over food.
Awesome - I've done lots of those things too
and lots that I haven't (walk across Bklyn Bridge, for example). DH gave me the double decker bus tour tickets for my birthday when we first started dating and we spent the entire weekend playing "tourist"
You got some AMAZING weather for NY in January!!
I haven't heard of West End Bar and Grill, but recs in the Theatre District are good so I'll have to remember that one. I thinK Tony's may have more than one location now but they have one right by where I used to live (Upper East Side) and I've been there several times. Fun for parties and groups for sure!
Glad you had such a good time in my City
