Feb 1st

What do you want to accomplish this month?

I'm kind of into setting goals lately.  It's helping me stay accountable in a lot of different ways.

So this month I'd like to:

Mail in our taxes (we're getting a huge refund, but for some reason I always wait until last minute to mail them in).

Clean out and paint our master closet (it's ok if the organization system isn't in, but I want to be ready for it).

I'm sure I'll think of others, but this is a good start for me.  Anyone else want to share their goals?

Re: Feb 1st

  • Do our taxes. Where we stand will determine if I file sooner or later. I think we will owe, in which case I will wait until April to file.

Finish the master bedroom (curtains, hang stuff) and finalize plans for the master bathroom and maybe start working on it. I'd like to paint the cabinets and walls, frame the mirror, and tear the carpet out of the sink area (for real, it's gross) and lay tile.

Start training for the marathon relay and stick to the plan. I'm using a 10k plan.

Personal spending freeze! I am allowing myself one lunch per week and the house projects, but limiting everything else to gift cards.

  • Stick to a grocery budget, our grocery spending has been out of control lately. Spend time planning grocery trips and buy things to stock when they're on sale.  I did really well last weekend.

Start exercising again, at home for now.

Start and finish baby afghan and finish the one for our bed, the one for us maybe a stretch because it's going to be large.

Start working on our photo walls.  I need to reframe the family side and work on a new arrangement.  I also need to scan in a bunch of old photos of my grandparents.  I've been planning on making my mom an album for her birthday or mother's day for years and by Jesus I'm doing it this year.  I think that's going to be my vacation project.

  • Start working out at least three times a week, and continue making more of an effort to eat fruit and veggies every day.

Get our taxes done (still waiting on a few things)

    Paint/redecorate our dining room.

Making February a no-spending month, except for essentials, items for the dining room (in budget) and things for Eli's birthday party.

  • Clean out our two guest rooms (main guest room which will become M's new room and our aforementioned baby equipment cemetary).  Move all furniture around: some to basement, some to the curb, and move main guest room furniture to baby cemetary/new main guest room.

Paint M's new room before we go to NC at the end of the month.

    Order M's new bedroom furniture.

Submit taxes. Receive refund. Still waiting on one freaking form and it's an additional deduction, so I'll keep waiting for it. :)

Finish M's birthday invites I'm making in PSE9, finish her birthday banner, order the Barney costume rental.  Send out her invites (last day of month).

  • I want to NOT think about the fact that I'm going back to work on the 27th.

I want to eat better and I want to exercise 3x a week.  I really need to get into a routine before I go back to work because it will be impossible trying to start after I go back.

I want to lose 10 pounds (hopefully if the previous goal goes as planned, this will come easily)

I want to purge Tim's closet and dresser

I want to clean out the second closet in A's room.  We need more storage space for her stuff

  • This month definitely: do our taxes (waiting on DH's w2).

Things I'd like to get taken care of this month, but could go into March:

    - list and sell our iPod nano replacements (Apple recalled our Gen1's and we both have iPod Touches now and don't need the new nanos) probably on Ebay

    - take a picture, list and sell the end tables and papasan chair in the guest bedroom (aka baby girl's room) probably on Craig's List

    - go through wedding stuff in baby girl's closet and clear it out/reorganize what's staying inside

    - put away the storage bins of Mark's clothes

    - throw out old plastic drawers we no longer need

  • I want to purge my wardrobe before #2 arrives. So probably this weekend.

I want to finalize the plans for re-doing the upstairs bathroom, pick tile, paint, sink, toilet, etc...

I would like to paint and re-organize our master closet, but this might be a bit unrealistic, unless we do it this weekend!

Pick out fabric for N's twin sized quilt.
