Aruba plus one other destination

I realized the next time we go to Aruba will likely be around our 10 year anniversary, we have been 5 times so it would be our 6th trip there and it would cool to do a side trip for a few days, we would be with the kids and it would have to be a Marriott.  Suggestions?   Obsiously Cura?ao would be an option, I went to Bonaire years ago and loved it but want to go somewhere new.

Re: Aruba plus one other destination

  • We coupled Curacao with Aruba last summer.  CUR was very cool -but I am an Aruba lover.   If you want a chill on the beach type vacation stay with Aruba.  If you want to dive, go to CUR.  Much more history, culture and a more "European" feel in CUR.  Aruba is much more tourist friendly and the beaches are much nicer.  I like the food a lot better in Aruba also.

we took a short, cheap flight, 5 nights in Aruba and 2 in Curacao.  i am glad I visited, but probably won't go back.  we are total beach bums and Aruba is just a great fit for us.

We stayed at a marriott property in CUR.

Ugh, you might have talked me out of Curacao.  We own a timeshare in Aruba and love the island.  I would totally recommend Bonaire to anyone wanting a side trip b/c it is way less touristy than Aruba and even Curacao but I have not been in over 10 years so I know there are more 5 star resorts there now.  But it's very much a diving destination and I don't dive anymore and DH is not certified.

    Anyone else have ideas?
