What food/drink gives you energy?
My work/school/tutoring schedule this semester is killing me! I had to drink a coke yesterday to keep me awake and I just now caved in and got another coke. I'm trying to cut coke out of my diet and I seem to be doing okay with it until I get tired and need energy.
So, what healthy-ish snack have you found that gives you a boost of energy?

Honestly, when my overall day of eating has gone well (aka, lots of meat, veggies and good fat) I have a ton of energy. When my eating sucks or I eat sugar, my energy is always crap. I'll just sit there and space out for 5 minutes.
Probably not what you were looking for, but that's what I noticed about myself

Okla - I bought some apples last night. I think I'll try the apples and PB today and tomorrow.
Boymom - I wish I wasn't so darn picky! I'm not a fan of green tea, dark chocolate, raspberries, or coffee. Hahaha
Fuzzy - I'll have to look into that!
Drillerswife - you pretty much described my breakfast I have every morning! Except I have whole wheat toast instead of English muffin. I'll have to look into the special K bars though.
Wendy - if only Amp was healthy! That stuff works like a charm! I haven't found any other energy drinks that I like.
Buttercup - I feel like I drink enough water (about 60 oz a day). Maybe I'll try almonds and blueberries.
Blinkinglight - I feel like my diet is pretty balanced. I only eat lean meats like turkey and chicken, I try to make all my carbs whole wheat or whole grain, and most of my fats come from peanut butter. And I drink a protein shake post workout since I have a hard time getting in protein from just eating meat and eggs. I think my major problem is just my crazy schedule. And in the afternoons when I have a break from running back and forth from home to work to school to work, I get super sleepy since I have a desk job. Hopefully some of these snack ideas will help!
