Acting as a Witness for a Divorce

My friend asked me to go to court with her tomorrow for her divorce.  Has anyone been a witness for someone before?  I assume I'll just be sworn in and asked a few y/n questions.

Re: Acting as a Witness for a Divorce

  • Unless there is something crazy going on they likely are just looking for someone to verify that the couple has been separated for a year and maintaining separate residences.
  • I went for both of my sisters.  You mainly confirm you know both parties, you know they were once married and have since separated, they haven't resided under the same household in X amt of time, there hasn't been any hanky panky between them since that separation and that you believe they should be granted the divorce.  I believe those were the questions, it's been a few years.
  • I did this for my BFF.  They asked if I knew the couple, if I knew if they had lived apart for the last year and if they had sex in the last year.
