So..... A question for the twin moms....
When/how did you find out you were having twins? I am over the moon for a friend of mine who just found out at her 20wk(!) u/s. She has barely had any morning sickness or any other symptoms to hint that there was more than one.
Also, they are in 2 separate sacs, does that mean fraternal or no? She already has one boy and they were only able to tell the sex of one of the babies (another boy).

Re: So..... A question for the twin moms....
Obviously I am not a twin mom but I think identical twins can split into two separate sacs. But I am not 100% on that.

I found this online......
Identical Twins
With identical twins, one egg (zygote) from the mother is fertilized by one sperm from the father, and then very early in development the embryo splits and two fetuses grow. Spontaneous division of the zygote into two embryos is not considered to be a hereditary trait, but rather a spontaneous or random event.
If the zygote splits very early (in the first 2 days after fertilization) they may develop separate placentas (chorion) and separate sacs (amnion). These are called dichorionic, diamniotic (or 'di/di') twins. While all fraternal twins are 'di/di', this occurs 20 - 30% of the time in identical twins.
Most of the time in identical twins the zygote will split after 2 days, resulting in a shared placenta, but two separate sacs. These are called monochorionic, diamniotic ('mono/di') twins. These twins are very similar genetically, and share a single afterbirth.
Very occasionally, twins will also share the same sac (fluid cavity). In about 1% of identical twins the splitting occurs late enough to result in both a shared placenta and a shared sac. These are called monochorionic, monoamniotic ('mono/mono') twins.

I thought it was interesting. I did not know how early on the egg splits determines the number of placentas and sacs. The human body is an amazing thing!

It's crazy, isn't it? (says the girl who knows more about fertilization, splitting and embryo symettry than I would have ever thought I would 22 months ago

I think Delta (Andrea) found out at 20 weeks too. But my memory sucks so I could be making that up.

Confession: I was hoping you were going to announce in this post that you were having twins.

LOL!
When they are looking for a heart beat with the doppler (prior to knowing there are mulitples), they have no reason to keep looking after finding one.
My confession: I want another baby SO bad but don't think I could handle DD & the Hyperemesis again
I know I survived it but the thought of it all makes me want to get my tubes tied.

Good memory! Yup I found out at 20 weeks and "holy sh!t" about sums up what my hubby and I both screamed out at the U/S. I opted not to do the NT scan at 12 weeks and my doc in ATL did not do early U/S unless there was a need...such as high risk, age, etc. etc. Soooo that being said, when we would hear the heartbeat she would move the doppler around a bit but I guess it never registered that it was two distinct heartbeats, maybe b/c they were so similar? I have no clue! Anyways yes it was a big shock and honestly I had been pretty sick, but not anywhere near as bad as some people have it and I was in no way showing like there were two babies in there. Now, of course AFTER I found out I balloned up and became a giant beastly pregnant woman! lol! I only went to 32 weeks but at that time I was measuring 40 weeks!
Also...my guys are identical but they had their own sacs and shared one placenta.
