apparently I found a good DCP

Not only has my daycare provider taken on cloth diapering and patching my kid, she apparently is the only one she has talked to who tolerates the massive amount of spit up my child produces.

DD has always spit up a lot but she seems happy and not bothered by it so we haven't done anything about it. We've tried different bottles and our DCP googled and has been trying different recommendations for feeding positions and such for reflux babies.

DCP reached out to her other DCP friends for some advice and see if they had suggestions to try to reduce DDs spitup episodes-- apparently she was told by the other providers that she should terminate us. She obviously said she wouldn't but wow... I'm grateful to have someone who cares and who is willing to work with us! Isn't that nuts?!

Re: apparently I found a good DCP

  • that is nuts!!  Why would you get rid of income because a kid spit up on you??  makes no sense.  T was a spitty baby too and we started cloth diapering full time at 6 months. I would say you have a great DCP!!  Sounds a lot like ours

  • That is nuts!  Thank goodness you found a sensible and nice DCP!
  • Glad you have a good one.  Who the heck are the ones who would kick out a baby for spitting up?!

I know she has a network of in-home providers in the surrounding towns. It's crazy and she seemed disturbed that no one had any advice/ support for her.

  • Glad you found a good DCP. I can't imagine having my child kicked out for spitting up, that would be like terminating a baby who cries.
  • That is wild. Abe was a spitter until about 5 or 6 months. And I know two of the babies there are SUPER spitters. DCP just keeps a clean cloth around at all times and babies wear soft bibs (pretty much all of them since they are so drooly and she says it is easier to change a bib than an outfit.)
  • That is crazy...I just assumed that was part of having a baby.  It never occurred to me that there was a secret rating system and your baby could be evicted from day care for it!  Geez...

  • That's so sad that your poor baby would get kicked to the curb for too much spit up.  Sounds like you have a really good one!
