Help! Hair disaster!

So I feel like a tool posting this since the last few posts involve things that need serious help.  But, I just ended up with a haircut that was an extreme disaster that needs fixing.  Whoever fixes it will need to be kind of creative, because there's not a lot left to work with.  Where do I go?  Where do you go?  Who's good?  I'll go pretty much anywhere I need to, but it can't be someone who schedules weeks in advance because it needs to be fixed ASAP - the resulting ponytail isn't even very attractive.

  • Hilary at Orbit cuts and colors my hair.  She's amazing.  I'd demand a refund from the place you got butchered at (hopefully not Orbit) :)

  • Sarah st Orbit cuts my hair and is excellent, too. So sorry!

  • I go to Bei Capelli in Scarborough (Emily cuts mine). She did an excellent job fixing a horrible haircut that I had last year and I've been going to her since then.

    THIS Stick out tongue

I totally feel your pain- the same thing happened to me a few years back, and it was super traumatic! Ironically, I got it from a stylist I loved and had been going to for years, and on my last appointment before leaving Annapolis, she totally demo'd it. Hope you can get it fixed ASAP!

  • I super puffy heart Jess at Natural Beauty in Standish. She's the owner and an absolute doll. Both my sister (when she lived in the US) and I go to her. Although I have always been happy, she always tells me to just let her know if I need help with learning to style it or if it isn't working or anything along those lines. She is popular and books quick, but is also more than likely willing to work with you if she knows you need help bad. She found a way to squeeze me in before a weekend away with my girlfriends and it was really short notice.

If you do call, you can tell her the pregnant Susie told you to call (I work at her son's school).

    Good luck!

  • Hehehe, the pregnant Susie.

Thanks, girls, for the recommendations.  I won't be commemorating this event with a photo (in fact, the hair tie hasn't come out since I made it to the car last night), but picture something along the lines of a shoulder-length bob with three distinct layers like a petticoat.  Then picture the sides near my ears all one length somewhere close to the second layer.  You know, actually it looks like a mullet with two shorter layers on top.  No bangs though.

At five o'clock last night, my hair was five inches or so past my shoulders and had light layering at the end (like, an inch max between the shortest and longest layers).  I just wanted it touched up!

  • Sounds like you have plenty of recommendations, so I just wanted to pass along my deepest sympathies.   :)

I had a terrible layer haircut experience back in college that was like the "Rachel" gone bad (and the "Rachel" gone good was NOT what I was going for)...good luck!

  • I forget where you are, but I go to A Touch of Style on Washington in Portland and see Jade. It totally looks like an old lady salon, but the staff all seems nice and Jade has been great with both my and James' hair, and my eyebrows. I dont' go very often, but I always enjoy my cuts with her- not only do they turn out great after I tell her to do what she wants with some basic guidelines, she is so relaxing and gentle. Just thinking about it makes me want to jelly-fy in my chair because she doesn't rush and uses such a soft, careful touch that I'm always on cloud 9 after leaving.

Also, I dont' think this is out of place amongst serious posts- a bad hair cut is VERY serious business.

  • Okay, Sarah at Orbit it is...she could take me before Hillary, so she's the winner.  Of what, I don't know.  A tough job, I guess.
