Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Suicide outcry- WWYD?

I just saw that one of my FB friends, someone I went to HS with but do not know well (or really at all), made a suicide outcry last night.  Other than offering words of encouragement, what would you do in this situation?

Re: Suicide outcry- WWYD?

  • If you know anyone who is closer to tell, I would get in touch with them, or alert family. While not always true, typically people who post something like that in such an open way (who aren't young teenagers etc.) are not likely to follow through - they're feeling lonely and seeking attention. So a positive/uplifting response can be helpful too. But I would definitely let someone who is closer to them know as well. GL! If it continues and you know where they work/live you can always ask police to perform a wellness check too - but that's typically reserved for more extreme circumstances.

Thanks so much for your insight!  I've never seen anything like that before on FB or elsewhere and wasn't sure how to handle it.
