Back to work Anxiety

so i started freaking out a little about leaving the baby for the whole day. I would leave work before my dh and come home after him. Although A is in excellent hands, I am still freaking out. Any tips for going back to work...

Re: Back to work Anxiety

  • That's exactly my day.  I leave at 7:30 and come  home at 6:30.  DH does drop off & pick up at preschool and I hate it.  To cope: My desk is full of pics of A and I cried my eyes out for 2 weeks when I went back (the week before & the week I was back).

My best advice right now is not to worry about it.   You have an entire month before you go back, right?  Just enjoy your time and don't stress yourself out over it. A  month of worrying is going to drive you nuts.  LOL.  Then when it is time to go back arm yourself with tissues & pictures and call home (or wherever he is) a couple times during the day.

  • This is going to be me in April...

GL lady, everything will be wonderful. So happy you found a great job!

Booo for cleaning up messes.  I thought you had longer than that before you went back :(  I won't lie, it will stink in the beginning but once you start getting into a groove you'll feel much better.  Calling to check in made me feel better during the first few days I was back.  (and noone will think you're crazy for calling 5 times LOL)

  • I was going to post this exact thing today! I go back on the 22nd so I definitely feel your pain. It doesn't help that I'm going back to a job that I don't love. The only things that are good is that my day will now end at 3pm (although my paychecks will now suck ballz) and my sis is watching TJ. GL, I 10000% understand.

  • I will also be having this issue when I go back after the baby. I also hate my job so it's even worse, BUT our healthcare is with my job and I am the primary paycheck in the household so I have to come back. I really don't want to go to a daycare though. I wish I had a famly member I trusted and was able to do it.

  • I went back to work part time after H was only 6 weeks old.  Remember I was laid up on bed rest for 6 weeks prior so I needed to get back in the real world.  It's rough.  I still miss Baby H but I know he's napping most of the time I'm gone and the time I have with him is extra special!  You will find your night time and weekends to be extra special.  <3  You will do great!!!

  • It's perfectly normal-I cried almost every day during my maternity leave dreading the day I had to go back-I even tried to figure out ways to work from home-I looked up a lot of those bogus websites!!!!  lol.  I probably called almost every hr. on the hr.!  That was one thing that helped me was checking in with either my in-laws( who were watching her)  or my husband (who probably called more than I did!!!!) But after a few days It definitly gets easier!  And that helped-knowing it gets easier-Now that I do work-I enjoy my time away from DD.  It  makes my time with her more special

Just remember to breathe and your baby will be there when you get home!  Good Luck!
