Of course, unless it's crumbs or things we drop when fixing dinner!
I do think we need to change his food though, but I don't know where to start on finding a new one (and when I asked my vet for suggestions, they said Purina).
He was on a hard, dry lamb and rice food until last summer when he got sick (stomach virus). He wouldn't eat it anymore. We cooked him chicken and rice until it cleared up. THen vet suggested we keep him on a chicken and rice food after that.
But the chicken pieces of the food are chewy and the rice pieces are crunchy. Now, he is picking out the chewy pieces and spitting out the crunchy ones, leaving me with a kitchen floor covered in dog food pieces by the time he eats. He won't eat them anymore.
So maybe we should try a chewy food? Or just wait til he gets over this little phase of his?

I've always hesitated to change only because I heard at some point that it can upset their stomach. Then again, when he has play dates with our friends (or when they had to keep him last minute for us or something), he is always eating other kinds of food and we've never had an issue. So you may be right and we should just try some other flavors.
Do you do anything when you transition between flavors, like mix both flavors for a few days first? Or just change it?
I will also try some broth at least until we finish what we have and see if that helps!
My dog does the same thing. Is there a canned version of what you're feeding him? If we put a little canned food on top, not only is it the "same" food (and avoids the stomach ache issue), but she is so busy gobbling up the canned food she doesn't even notice she's eaten the crunchy until she's licking the bowl.
If we're out of canned food, we scramble an egg (no milk). Does the same trick.
Our male dog is a super picky eater. We do what Morrigan suggest above - dry food (We feed Fromm - really high quality food) with chicken broth or chunks of chicken when we have time. He absolutely loves it
. He does have issues if we switch food, so if we're going to, we do it gradually (over a period of at least a week).
We do this too. I mix in about a table spoon of wet food with the 1 cup dry food (same brand.) In terms of flavors, my brand of dog food comes in different flavors that are designed to just upright switch (without mixing) whenever you want.
