Re: Where did you stay in Uluru? (Ayers Rock)

  • I just updated my blog with some pictures of our stay in Uluru.  We stayed at Sails in the Desert which was pretty decent.  It was very beautiful on the outside.  The rooms themselves were clean and big.  We had a huge spa suite with two separate patios, but we didn't use it.  I had just read so many mixed reviews of the hotels, so, we went with the higher rated of those available at Voyages.  Also, the walk to the little town center was easy from Sails.  From some of the other hotels, you really have to use the shuttle.
  • I'm guessing the hostel is out, HA?  I was a traveler in Oz so yeah.  Mean it's expensive there though, even more so then the rest of Oz.  Just warning you AinO.  This was in 2005.

I did the hostel thing too. Actually a hostel type hotel in Alice Springs but I rented the whole room. Then I joined a backpacker tour and camped out under the stars near Uluru.

  • We stayed at The Lost Camel Hotel.

Our room was small, but I liked the modern decor.

  • I was just there this past weekend. We stayed at the sails in the desert and it was very nice. Not the best but comftorable. We did a sunrise tour at Uluru, a walk in the olgas, the sounds of silence dinner and the sunset camel ride. Everything was great! It was a wonderful trip and I learned a lot about Australia and it's history.
  • we haven't been yet, but we'll be camping. Lodging there is crazy expensive!
