My friend just got a Peace Corps assignment there. You are the best person I thought to come to for information (after the Wikipedia, of course).

I actually haven't been there, but a good friend of mine finished a 3 yr stint there with the peace corps. He liked it so much that he extended his stay twice.
Its a pretty diverse place though. He was in the north, which is very sahelian practically in Chad. The south is kind of another world. And then there is part that is anglophone and very different from the rest of the county.
