Dress Me Fancy

One of DH's cousins is getting married at the end of March in CA. We are planning on going and turning it into a mini-vacay as well, yay! Of course this requires a new dress. Wedding is semi formal/formal, on a dinner-cruise yacht out of Newport on a Sunday evening.

My requirements for this dress are that is have some sort of sleeve (cap sleeve minimum), be at least knee length, and come in extended sizes (to fit my big azzzzz). Also, column, or fitted dresses don't compliment my body shape. I loves you for the helps!

  • I'll have to give this some thought. Is there a budget?

And I'm totally jealous. Yacht out of Newport? Amazing!

Ah, yes, a budget. I'd like to keep it under $150. I know that's low, but DH and just don't do much of anything that require formal attire, so it's not necessarily something I'll get multiple wears out of. We also need to buy DH a new suit for this.

  • That wedding sounds fantastic. I wanted to throw it out there that Jos A Bank has there winter clearance going it might be worth checking out for your Dh.

As for dress. I'm a Macy's girl and they always have coupons and good sales. Here are a few I found on the site.

That might fit what you are looking for. A lot of them right now are red and I can't say where red to a wedding. It just seems bright to me. Maybe that's my old school traditionalist feelings.

  • Macy's is great, also try Nordstom's online or Ebay. Around now you'll find a lot of prom dresses for resale. If you get something soon, you can have it altered to fit you perfectly.

  • Oooh, I could wear a Pippa's dress in navy! (too cheesy?)

This one is cute, and I think it will ease over my thunderous thighs, but I don't know if it's too much material around the bust.

Not sure what think about this one. I love that color, but it's kind of shapeless, and I do actually have a waist.

The gaudy part of me like this one. If wore a black cardi, would that sufficiently tone it down?

I like that one, I wonder if the skirt is really green IRL, or more gold, like it is on my screen. I also saw this with pink-ish skirt too that was cute.

I was searching under green because I think you would look good in green, but I was thinking of more a vibrant green when I was searching. This green looks almost like a light olive green on my screen. I liked it because I thought the shape would be really flattering, and the ruching might hide things us ladies don't like others to see.  Didn't see the pink one.. that could be cute!

I like #1 and #2. The color on the second one is really neat, and I like the shape of it. #3 is too shapeless for you IMO. As for #4, I really like the look of it online (shape and pattern), but I feel like I would want to see it in person. It looks like it could potentially look really cheap in person.
