An aside about breast cancer research funding
You know who actually gives money to breast cancer research? Teresa Heinz Kerry. Not a foundation in her name - I mean, she shows up in person, watches your presentation, asks you questions, and then if she thinks your ideas have merit and could legitimately lead to a decrease in breast cancer deaths, she seriously whips out the checkbook and gives you money right there. She bought two mass specs for my previous lab to research the nonclassical estrogenic effects of different pesticides, preservatives, plasticizers, etc. and how they relate to carcinogenesis.
