Chik Fil A Fans: did you see this?

I stumbled upon this when checking me email and cracked up... at least he has his priorities in order!

Cassanova McKinzy spurned Clemson because he missed the Chick-fil-A

By Graham Watson | Dr. Saturday ? 18 hours ago

buffett.jpgWhat's really important to a college football athlete when choosing the right school? Location, academics, the ability to start early?

How about a school's proximity to Chick-fil-A?

That's apparently what swayed Birmingham, Ala., linebacker Cassanova McKinzy from Clemson to Auburn. When McKinzy visited the Clemson campus, there was no Chick-fil-A in sight, and that just wasn't acceptable.

"[It was] kind of the environment and plus they had no Chick-fil-A on campus," McKinzy said when asked why he didn't choose Clemson (scroll ahead to the 1:30 mark in the video). "You had to go like, probably like 15 minutes off campus to go to like a real restaurant. Their caf? was kind of small."

Never mind that there is a Chick-fil-A on Clemson's campus. Clearly this crucial fact was not highlighted on McKinzy's visit. And if you've ever been to a Chick-fil-A, you can sympathize with McKinzy. There's no better way to start a morning than with a spicy chicken biscuit and no better way to settle into an evening of studying than with some waffle fries.

[Y! News: McDonald's 'pink slime' and other gross things you've eaten]

I had never tasted Chick-fil-A before attending college and I can honestly say it was one of the reasons why I stayed.

Of course, McKinzy goes on to say something about the Clemson facilities being too far away from the classes and dorms, but we know the perceived absence of Chick-fil-A was the real reason for him choosing Auburn.

Perhaps whoever McKinzy's hosts were at Clemson took him to the wrong part of campus.

  • First of all, his parents named him Cassanova.

Second, I want to know what he said when he found out there is one on Clemson's campus?

Third, are there Chik-fil-a's on a lot of college campuses?  My school had 5500 undergrads and there was a Chik-fil-a in one of the three dining halls.

  • Love it! We went to Chick Fil A the other day when it happened to be family night. Molly was obsessed with the cow! She kept reaching and yelling for him. They gave her a little stuffed one and she held on to it the entire evening.
  • There are so many things to note here... The CFA on campus isn't super obvious, but it is there. I am sure of he asked someone would have pointed it out. Facilities aren't that far away from class plus he obviously didn't realize one of his teammates would give him a ride in their low rider. And last, but not least, the off campus CFA is NOT 15 minutes away. Clemson is so small the only thing 15 minutes away is the WalMart in the next town over. Lame.

    This.

If that's seriously his reason, and he's not just being tongue in cheek, I once again weep for the future.

  • Wait, what?  First, I don't think Chick-fil-a is anything to write home about.  Pickles?  on sandwichs?  and you don't WARN people?  Is it because I'm a Yankee?  Maybe.

Anyway.  Am I the only one who didn't even know there were fast food restaurants on campuses?  My school (about 3,000 undergrad) had exactly one dining hall.  One dining hall, two floors (full service and then like quick-grab stuff) and one coffee bar place thingy.  That's it.  You wanted fast-food it was Wendy's off campus.

  • Yeah, UC has a Chick Fil A, Burger King, a sushi place and taco bell on campus, plus 2 starbucks.  Not to mention the buttload of restaurants off the strip.  I can't imagine a huge campus not having tons of fast food choices.  At least this kid has his priorities straight.  Chicken beats academics any day.

My little tiny first college?  We had a dining hall and a snack bar that supposedly served sbarro, but whatever it was it was gross.

     1) pickles are amazing!! but my DH does order his Chick-Fil-A pickle-less

    2) that totally describes my undergrad dining experience too; it was total weirdness to me when I got to grad school to find fast food on campus

And yes, this dude is totally ridiculous. I am thinking by 'environment' he means "Clemson isn't in a major metropolitan area" or however you say 'I'm down with that" homie style.

    Drooling.

I would have been an even poorer college student had the on-campus food been any good.  When I lived on campus I survived on whatever fit onto my bookshelves and in my little mini-fridge (read: cereal, milk, lunchmeat, bread, chips, and if I was feeling brave, beer) because on-campus food was nastay.

  • DH is a HUGE Clemson fan and seriously bitter about this.  He went on a long rant about it last night.

  • My college experience was like Naylon's - one main dinin hall and one grill/coffee shop.  Your meal plan was either 21 meals per week or 14 (i.e., no breakfast) and you could eat as much as you wanted during a meal -- except on steak night when you got a ticket and could only get 1 steak but everything else was all you can eat.

Haha I knew your husband would have a rant about this! It is so ridiculous! Clemson doesn't need him anyway if he wants to get fat on CFA. The athletes have their OWN dining hall with whatever they want on it!

Clemson plays Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Kick-Off next year.  Apparently, a lot of people are talking about throwing chicken nuggets onto the field at this player when he runs on to the field.

  • CFA on college campuses are pretty paired down ( at least at the schools I've been too). FIrst they have a limited menu basically nuggets, sanwhiches and lemonade ( no sweet tea) and it just doesn't taste the same. I used to walk a mile away to the full service CFA that was off campus if I was in the mood rather than it at the one in the dining hall.

  • I was upset by the lack of Chick-fil-a's when I went away to college. I feel his pain.
    Happiest place on Earth!
