S/O Explain the POS option like I'm 5
If I want to use a provider who doesn't take Tricare, is this using the POS option? I pay out of pocket, submit to Tricare, and they cover some of it?
Re: S/O Explain the POS option like I'm 5
There are two types of TRICARE Providrs. Those that are contracted within the TRICARE PRIME Network and Those that are Suthorized TRICARE Providers.
Authorized Providrs must be registered with TRICARE for TRICARE to reimburse any visits. if a provider does not want to accept TRICARE Reimbursement rates and has not registered with TRICARE, then you are SOL.
However, if the provide takes Medicare Patients (registered), then by law he/she must take TRICARE Reimbursement Rates. He/She could, though, force you to pay for the procedure and have you submitt your claim to TRICARE on your own.
If you do go to see an Authorized provider outside of the network, here is the cost break down.
