I just got back from Lina's first ER visit, she is finally asleep. She was fine all day and then after her afternoon nap, she just started vomiting non-stop. At first I thought it was because I gave her this cereal for the first time (gluten-free, soy-free, etc.), but after the 4th instance I started getting worried. I'll spare the super gory details, but after a few more times she started to get really lethargic and sleepy and her eyes would sort of roll back. I didn't feel like that was okay so I just grabbed her insurance card and ran over the ER which is luckily only three blocks away.
The ER doctors and nurses were super nice, though they made us wait a bit longer than I would have liked. Lina vomited about 4 more times while we were in the waiting room and I was getting worried because she'd only eaten pears and 2 1/2 bottles of formula all day. While I was sitting with her, another woman came up to me and asked about why were there. She said she was also waiting for her 11 mo. old granddaughter who came with the same symptoms. The mom and the little girl came out a little later and the mom was so sweet, just trying to comfort me and telling me how worried she was, too, but that they gave her daughter something and said she'd be fine.
We saw the doctor and he was so friendly. I was afraid they wouldn't take me seriously or sort of brush me off as a new mother, but he didn't. They concluded she has a stomach virus that seems to be going around and prescribed her these suppositories that are supposed to curb the stomach problems. Tomorrow we just give her kindertee (children's tea) and water.
DH was great. He met me at the hospital and had to speed race on his bike to four different pharmacies to find the medicine (and he had to do it in 15 mins because they were all closing). SuperDaddy!
*sigh* So now she's asleep but of course I'll be nervous all night and check on her a million times. Don't be surprised if you see a million posts from me this evening because I'll surely be up.
Re: Our first ER visit
Oh no! I'd have freaked out if my cat puked several times in a row much less a kid.
I'm glad she's doing better now!
How scary!!! I would have been really freaked out too.
I am glad she is doing better now and that she has some meds to make her tummy feel better.
Thanks for the support. She was better today.
Oh, and Mrs.tlcS, she is 8 mos old already. It is going so fast!
Gah! 8 mos!
This year has absolutely flown. I think you were just getting ready to have her or maybe just had her when I joined E08... Man, does time get past ya.
