What was your best Valentines day and the worst?

best= h pretended like he didn't even remember what day it was.. and then i got this beautiful bouquet of flowers at work. he'd never done anything like that before. it was expensive but sweet.

i don't remember the worst.. actually, i do now but i don't wanna post it.

best - was my second one with H. He sent me flowers at work.

worst - my ex forgot Valentines Day AND my birthday. I was so mad.

Valentines isn't huge for me since my bday is five days afterward.

Best: 3 years ago my now H and I just ordered A TON of chinese take out from our favorite place, rented some chick flicks and relaxed together.

Worst: our first valentines day together. It was super low key which was great, we had only been dating a month so we hung out and played video games with his roommates then I invited him over to my place so I could make him some dinner before he went to work that night(He was a bouncer at a local bar). Well my roommate flipped out saying it was completely inconsiderate to bring him over for a "romanitic" evening without giving her proper notice to vacate. I invited her to eat with us.... Huh? so as soon as H showed up she flipped out again and stormed out of the apartment (So embarassing, and frustrating).

Best - Getting my 3lb green gummy bear from DH. DH doesn't "do" Valentines day, but he did that year since he was out of town and I hadn't seen him in a while.

Worst - my exH was notorious for spending ridiculous amounts of money on useless shiit for Valentines day and it would piss me off because he wasn't working, so essentially I was buying myself useless crap and scrambling to pay the bills.

So many warning signs there. I learned a lot from that relationship.

Best: The first Valentine's we were together (though he's generally really good about it. I was in school and he was visiting me at Smith. He walked me to class (like he normally did then anyway), and then picked me up from my polisci class with a big bouquet of roses he had gone to pick up while I was in class. Yes, I was one of those girls and enjoyed every moment of it.

The worst: this sounds cheesy, but I cannot really think of the worst V-Day. I've been with D since 2001 and he's generally very good about V-Day.

I'm not really a valentines day person, so it's all the same to me.

In high school, did anyone else's school do carnations on valentines day? You'd buy them for friends or whatever the week before for a dollar, write a little card and then other students would deliver them to you during class? I think it was an ASB fundraiser or something.

My first year of high school, I didn't get any. I was super sad. Crying

My H is amazing with Vday, it was my roommate that ruined our first one together. Oh well. But other than that I can't think of a bad one.

Best: my first with H. We'd only been dating a few weeks, but he gave me a journey diamond necklace and said I love you for the first time. The restaurant we wanted to get into somehow lost our reservation and we ended up eating dinner in the bar at Cactus, but it was still the best night.

Worst: not that it's valentine's day's fault, but our dog's first broken leg happened on v day a couple years ago. Wasn't a fun day.

We had candy grams in middle and high school - same idea. I never got any either. Crying

Best: My first Valentine's with H. It was also our first "date." We were in high school, so we met at a bookstore/coffee shop. We shared a vanilla frappe and browsed books. He also gave me a handmade card. It was super sweet.

Worst: Every Valentine's before I met H.

Best: My honey took me to dinner at Emery's, sooooo good! And then when I got home there was a big heart box full of candy and he had snuck a video game in there too. It was awesome!

Worst: None of them so far. Last year we didn't do anything so it was disappointing, but not the worst.

I can think of a LOT of bad Valentine's Days. The short list:

-When I was in 8th grade, an elementary school friend of mine died on February 13th of brain cancer. So a bunch of us spent the 14th at school, crying.

-High school: We did carnations and roses. I always got carnations from girlfriends; never roses from boys. Until my senior year, when a guy friend sent me one to just be nice, and the other guys in my homeroom teased me a bunch and ruined it for me.

-Sophomore year of college: My then-boyfriend and I helped another friend propose...which was great! But in the excitement of that, my bf forgot to pick up the flowers he swore he'd ordered for me. And we got back to campus later than planned, so we missed our dinner reservation. And he didn't make any of it up to me later.

-Senior year of college (and 3 years after that): Next boyfriend's birthday was February 14th. He informed me that it was his special day, not mine, and therefore, he refused to do anything special for Valentine's day. He wouldn't even celebrate V-day on a different day.

-First V-day with DH: He was in Seattle; I was in Denver. I really wanted him to send me flowers; would've been happy with a sweet email or text. He didn't contact me at all the entire day...not a word. When I finally got him to answer his phone (around midnight, my time), he was at a bar with a guy from work, getting drunk. We got in a big fight over the phone.

Best Valentine's....last year, DH made me dinner at home. It was very sweet, and he put a lot of effort into it...flowers, candlelight. It was nice.

valentines days have never been spectacular for me---

my first AND second valentines day with my H was probably the worst--sad, but it's true. i really really expected him to do something for our first v-day..but we didn't. he got a free heart-shaped papa-murphy pizza from work, and he baked that at home, and we shared with his parents. how romantic. i told him i was really disappointed, because it was our first v-day, and i really thought he'd do something special... well..at this point he pulled out his email-receipts and showed me that he ordered me flowers to be delivered at work, they just didn't get delivered- not his fault.

my second valentines day with him, he told me he left something at his desk at work that he wanted to grab--so we went to his work. he asked if i wanted to wait in the car, or go in-- and i said wait in the car. but he tried really hard, and convinced me to go inside- i thought he might've had a surprise for me at his desk. so i went in. no surprise. nothing. we got back to the car and i cried because i told him i was disappointed last year and i thought he would make up for it this year, but he still didn't. we then started driving around, talking about what i really wanted out of the relationship and expected from him, etc etc...not really talking about where we were going. h drove to a romantic restaurant on the water, and said "okay fine, let's go eat"-- and i thought he tricked me again! surprise dinner-reservations! we go in and they say "nope, no walk-ins. reservations only".......i cried and cried and cried. i kept thinking i was getting a surprise, but nope. we ended up eating a late-night-happy-hour at a bar..because at this point, i was starving.

my best one was our first-married-vday. we had buffet at the snoqualmie casino...there was lobster. i had laryngitis, and we didn't talk, and ate in silence.
