Got a puppy

my puppy is now house trained BUT before she use to pee and poop on my carpets.  I've scrubbed my carpets multiple times and i STILL smell dog pee! its soooo annoying! Any Advice?!?! Please help me!

Re: Got a puppy

  • Nature's Miracle is the only product I know of that will take out pet smells.  You might also just need to vacuum your sofa, wash her blankets/soft toys, give her a bath, etc.  We have two dogs, and I find that "dog smell" can be similar to pee smell.

  • We had a spot and did a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water, let it soak overnight until it was dry and shampooed the carpets in the morning. Then we put a paste of vinegar and baking soda on the spot, let that sit on the spot for a few hours, scrubbed it and shampooed it again. Then soaked it in Nature's Miracle. Probably overkill but we haven't had a problem with it since.

  • My girl had a lot of accidents before she was allergic to something in her food.  I bought a spot carpet cleaner - Bissel ProHeat Little Green Pet, and it was my savior.  Even if puppy is not having accidents now, it's handy to have for spilled drinks, tipped flower pots on the carpet, etc.  Works really well, uses steam and carpet solution to clean and it was only about $80.  I've used it a lot and still have the same bottle of carpet solution for it from when I bought it over a year ago.

For spot cleaning otherwise I have used Resolve foam, and then vaccuum over the area.  Works well for removing stains but idk about odors necessarily.

  • We use Nature's Miracle for most things, but our dog made a mess on our bedroom carpet and NM wasn't getting rid of the odor.  I finally tried vinegar.  I had to treat it twice (spraying it generously with vinegar) but the smell is gone and our dog hasn't returned there to make a mess since.
