I am nervous to leave our house without DH I don't know the neighborhood all that well. I have noticed I gained weight since moving here and today I weighed myself and had lost almost ten pounds so on my happy high I decided to go for a walk. Worst mistake ever on this walk I almost got ran over THREE times. Twice by a police officer and once by a mad woman speeding away from a kid on a bike screaming for her to stop. I know now I had it right to begin with not stepping a foot outside this house. How is your day going? Hope its better then mine
Re: Worst walk ever...
I'm sorry you had a bad walk, but don't be a hermit!
Pretty good, until I got to our local Starbucks to try to do some schoolwork, (my MIL, whom I stay with, watches kids during the day and screaming babies are not conducive to Economics or Public Policy homework) and the internet here is running so slowly that my school's website won't even allow me to log on. I have seriously never seen it so slow here.
Still not as bad as yours. Police officers? Really? I hate it when they don't obey the traffic laws...they of all people ought to.
When we first moved here, I went out for a walk with DD and got LOST. Like, used my gps (thank god for smartphones) to get home type lost. From walking less than 15 minutes.

Were you on the sidewalk? Hopefully you can find a safe, pedistrian friendly walking route!!

Yeah. I got hit by a car once in 7th grade and it was suck. I was sore as shiit and the woman was too apologetic for my dumb young azz. I jumped up and ran to the school building, where they made an announcement about accidents crossing the street.
to be fair, it was cold, i had on earmuffs, and biitch was trippin.
Best part? A whole school bus of classmates drive by and my friend and brother started singing a song "Jilly got hit by a car." I swear the whole effing school sang it to. That friend got hit by a car (going like 5 mph in the parking lot) senior year. She didn't think the song was so funny with her name attached.

I had no idea getting hit by a car was so.... common. My walks here are fairly lovely and safe. If I even look like I might want to cross the street, the cars slow. I feel like there should be a facebook page started for all of those who have been hit by cars.
Boulder, CO is a great place for pedestrians. They have the ultimate right of way. You could start crossing in the middle of a busy street, and people would just stop. I did see a couple people on bikes get hit, but thats more because the bikers were being unsafe and just stupid.
