I'm feeling sorry for my little girl today...and just need to get this off my chest...
She started with the new childminder yesterday. Just for 2 hours or so and there weren't too many tears, just when dh handed her over to the cm but he was still there. That stopped when handed back but dh brought her into the playroom and they got her distracted. the cm gave her a keyboard to play with. She loved it, but so too did a 17mth old boy who then proceeded to have a tantrum. N just looked at him and didn't react. The 2 hours went ok.
This morning dh dropped her off again and she was ok. Until the same boy threw another tantrum and then she started crying. He is quite jealous of her apparently. It is not like they are the only 2 kids there, nor is he the youngest. There is another younger girl than N (or so dh thinks - she needs to be supported with cushions when sitting), and then a couple of 2yr olds.
N is going to be there longer today and we're going to see how she is taking a nap there - given a spare grobag and teddy for that.
I really hope it gets better because this cm was our favourite. I know kids need time to adjust to new people coming in too but it doesn't make it any easier on N or us during the transition time - I feel quite helpless about this...
Re: @ My poor little girl...
*hugs*
When Beth started nursery school, it was harder on me than it was on her. Give it time. It gets easier.
ahhhh ((hugs))
its tough when they start in care
a friend of mine said it takes 6 weeks for them to settle in but 3 months for them to be FULLY happy to go there
and I found that was SO true
so hold in there- it'll get better!
Thanks... I know it will take time but I just feel bad for her. She was so settled with my sister in law minding her and then we just up and change it on her. (not by our choice...)
On Friday I went around and I stayed a little while to play. Tantrum boy was off sick (could be the reason why he was jealous perhaps) and so were 2 others so it was just N and one little boy (who is a sweetie even when N grabbed his train track). She did cry when I left and did look towards the door several times during the morning but she did take a nap there. And apparently she was more settled after the nap. Maybe it was good that it was only 2 of them there that day so she could settle into the place on a quieter day.
Fingers crossed there won't be too many tears (from anyone!) today... (dh does the drop off nearly everyday)
