NEone been to Turks & Caicos recently
and stayed at or around the Ocean Club resort? wondering if it is within walking distance to decent restaurants......DH and i are trying to decide if we want/need to rent a car while we are there in march.......

We were at Turks and Caicos in December - although we stayed at the Veranda. Ocean Club is fairly east on Grace Bay, so not really in the mix of things. But I know that there's a free shuttle between Ocean Club and Ocean Club West - and that Ocean Club West is very central and accessible to several restaurants and shops. So you probably don't *need* to rent a car.
However, you might consider renting a car for a couple of days to explore the island a bit and try some restaurants away from Grace Bay. I know a lot of people rent cars for the first day or two of their trips, so that they can avoid cab fare from the airport (very pricey) and easily pick up groceries and such.
We rented a car for a day in the middle of our trip to go to Taylor Bay and Chalk Sound - gorgeous! The rental car company dropped off the car and picked it up at our resort. Easy peasy. I think the going rate for a basic car rental is $49/day.
